A Review of the Game Diablo 3

Chris Stricklin, Staff Writer

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls edition

This game has recently consumed my life. This open world, RPG dungeon crawler is a very linear game. So if that is something that isn’t your forte, I don’t suggest it. For all of you folks who have a life out there outside of videogames, linear means that you can really only do the story missions, there isn’t much variation, though there are some games that are replayable, meaning you can play through them more than once and not already be bored. I consider this to be one of those games. Also, this games is designed for PC, and I suggest it be played on that platform, but you can also get it for consoles.

Story

You start off with your chosen character, out of the six that there are. Barbarian, Crusader, Demon-hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, and finally Wizard. You start off just outside of a small village known as New Tristram, in which a falling star had just recently fallen just outside of the small barricade that is left of the village. This star has caused undead to rise up and attack the village. Your mission? To help the village, but to also find out what that star is. So after a few minutes you get to your first dungeon, with the star at the very end of it. You get to the star and it’s not a star at all. Spoiler alert: it’s a man!

Gameplay

Diablo has an overhead view. I know, I know most of the time those are boring but this one’s good, I promise. The game is meant to be hard, Though it isn’t, so I very much suggest that you turn up the difficulty to either “hard” or “torment”. It’s much more fun that way. Unless you are the most casual gamer on the planet, go right ahead and play it on normal. It’s extremely easy, you can breeze through about a game that would take maybe 4 weeks to beat to about 3 days. Other than that it is your basic dungeon crawler. Go through dungeons, defeat demons. The gameplay is very basic but the story is what makes up for it.Really the only difference you are going to get in gameplay is based on your class.

Music and Graphics

Now this part is a little harder to grade considering that there is little to no music and the graphics switch, kind of. The music I will not describe considering you can’t really hear it all that often. The graphics though, are amazing. You can’t expect much from an over the head game but this one really nailed it. And when I said it switches, I meant cutscenes. These are absolutely beautiful. Stunning animation that have an amazing story to be told.

Verdict

This game has been a very good time for me, I had enjoyed the previous games in the series but this one is by by far the best. I give this game a 7/10. This is almost only because it isn’t exactly all user-friendly. You need to have at least some knowledge in gaming beforehand.
