Stranger Things 2

On July 15, 2016, Netflix released a sci/fi horror series that would later become its most popular original title ever. Providing many hints of nostalgia for adults and an intense and a relatable story for young adults, the show has hit many of the right spots for it’s fans.

Stranger Things takes place in a little town called Hawkins, where a little more might be going on than the townspeople are let on. And when a boy goes missing, his friends go out searching for him, and when they search the woods where he went missing, they find a girl with special abilities beyond their known world.

Due to the spectacular child performances by Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and most importantly Millie Bobby Brown, the show racked up many nominations when it came to award season. Since it came out in July, not many students could discuss it directly, but when September came, it seemed that the show had just come out. Everyone around me was discussing their favorite characters and episodes.

I personally have watched the entire show 4 times and I still love every part of it. Now with the drop of the last trailer and the episodes being available to stream on Friday, the hype is building up more and more.

When asked if she likes the show, sophomore, Anjela Tousant says,”Yes, yes it’s very good, and I recommend it for anyone who hasn’t seen it.”
I also asked her if she is excited for season 2 and she responded with,”YES, why wouldn’t I be excited, I NEED to know what happens.”

Super Mario Odyssey

Earlier this year, Nintendo released their brand new original gaming system called the Nintendo Switch. For the most part, the video games available for the Switch have been major successes, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, and most significantly, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

With the many trailers released for their new upcoming game Super Mario Odyssey, many people including myself think that this will be their biggest hit yet. Super Mario Odyssey will be about Mario going all around the world to find purple coins and to collect green moons so he can stop the evil Bowser from marrying Princess Peach. He will also be able to throw his now sentient hat at enemies and passive to creatures to “possess” them and use their unique abilities against other enemies and mobs.

Since the debut of all of the trailers on youtube, they all add up to 58 million views. Now with already millions of pre-orders, it looks like game will be a massive hit among fans. The fans of these games are getting crazy excited to play in the open Mario world, the stage that was released that’s getting the most attention is New Donk City, a Manhattan like city populated with humans that Mario can possess and walk around in.

I have heard from multiple people that they most likely will not be going out on Halloween because they will be too busy playing this hyped up title, hopefully the game will be Nintendo’s greatest hit since 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy, my personal favorite Nintendo games thus far.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins

Many people, including me, have noticed that the last few Assassin’s Creed games have been slightly weak compared to the earlier entries. But, with the release of some trailers and some gameplay and stills, it appears that this game from Ubisoft studios will be truly special.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins will be based before the events of all the other titles, where we follow a Medjay named Bayek throughout 1st century BC Egypt, trying to get him into the legendary Assassin’s Brotherhood.

Compared to the other Assassin’s Creed titles, this looks to extremely creative and original to the franchise, appearing to provide a vast open world doing assassin missions that the franchise is known for. It looks intensely fun and many fans are excited to get their hands on it and dive into land of ancient Egypt.
