A few students in Weedsport High were wondering if they could ride snowmobiles to school. Noah Cooper, a senior, said that if we were able to ride snowmobiles to school that most of the students would take advantage. I’ve asked Mrs. Widrick, High School Principal, the policy on the topic. Widrick said “only motorized vehicles are allowed on school grounds are vehicles registered to drive on the road.” Mrs. Widrick also said that her personal opinion on the issue is it’s important for us to watch out for the safety and well-being of all the students. Just like with a car or a truck, some students might make poor decisions that would endanger others, but with a car or a truck, we also have the vehicle traffic safety laws to rely on to help regulate traffic. Snowmobiles would not be a safe way to travel to school.
