In Memoriam: Who Have The Saviors Killed in The Walking Dead?

Chris Chalker, Staff Writer

Since mid-season six, Negan and The Saviors have been teased and now that we have seen him and The Saviors in action, it’s time to grieve the ones that died in this “war.”

Dr. Denise Cloyd

Denise was fatally and accidentally shot by Dwight, one of Negan’s top people. Dwight claims he was aiming for Daryl and missed. Denise dying is critical, as she was the only remaining doctor at Alexandria, she was Tara Chamber’s girlfriend and she was an overall good person who didn’t deserve to die.

Joseph (Fat Joey)

Fat Joey is one of Negan’s people. Joey was in charge of luring walkers away from the various places Negan controlled. Why is his death important? First of all, his head was caved in by Daryl Dixon, who is traumatized by seeing two of his friends (we will get to them in a minute) die in a similar fashion and he is responsible for one of them dying. Joey dying also means walkers could attack these key places, which will be a major step back for any of them if attacked.

Abraham Ford

Abraham was selected as Negan’s first victim. The importance? Negan killed Abraham with Lucille, his baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. Abraham went out how he wanted to, but what did he leave behind? Sasha Williams, his then girlfriend. Rosita Espinosa, his ex-girlfriend. Eugene Porter, his best friend. All three of them were deeply affected by his death.

Glenn Rhee

Glenn was chosen after Negan was punched by Daryl. Negan mocks Glenn as he tries to spit out his final words to Maggie. Glenn got his comic death, which changes things for every single survivor in that lineup and even more back home. It also means his unborn child doesn’t have a father.

Spencer Monroe

Spencer dying means Rick has no opposition and that there are no more surviving members of the Monroe family. Spencer dying also happens in the comics, in the exact same way. Spencer being gutted was key and it shows how sadistic Negan is, besides killing fan favorites with his baseball bat that is.

Olivia

Olivia dying introduces us to Arat, who may be a major player moving forward. Olivia doesn’t offer a lot other than that though, except that there is no one to make rations.

Rory of The Hilltop

Although we never saw it, Jesus or Paul Rovia references that Negan killed a kid named Rory. Rory dying has forced The Hilltop into giving Negan supplies.

Every Man of the Oceanside

Negan and his people killed every single man over a certain age and killed them all. This later drive the women to leave and escape, thus creating Oceanside.

Bud and his crew

These are the Saviors Daryl, Sasha and Abraham blew up on the road. These people were our first nod that Negan was coming.

Paula and her crew

Paula and her group took Maggie Greene-Rhee and Carol Peltier hostage and they all later died. This was just to show that there were more Saviors than just that outpost.

Outpost Saviors

Rick and several others massacred a bunch of Saviors in a Satellite Station, which served as an Outpost.

Supply Truck Saviors

These were the two people Carl Grimes gunned down at The Sanctuary. This shows that Negan has a soft side, or a less evil side.
