Fantasizing Reality: An Original Poem

Angela Hackett, Staff Writer/Broadcaster

Follow the rabbit down the hole cause there’s something you have to know, check the time once or twice, buckle up you’re in for a ride. now take a seat, have some tea. sit back and just relax, hours pass you lost time it seems the Red Queen has finally arrived…

I see blurry line and messed up lies you told a while ago,

and when I was young I would’ve liked to know,

those fairy tales that never showed,

and the prince that never came,

here I sit by myself all alone again.

no carpet rides, no voice find, no beauty and the beast.

Welcome to my land that no one’s ever seen,

you’ll find broken hearts, and rose shards that cut like a knife,

but when you hear the music blare,

just know you’ll be all right,

open your eyes to reality,

the world you know is gone,

it’s time to grow up,

the world you loved was wrong.

because those fairy tales they didn’t last,

the prince he never came,

so here you sit by yourself, you’re all alone again.

those fairy-tales they didn’t last you’re all alone again.
