Words In My Head & I Saw You There: Original Poetry

Aubrey Ouderkirk, Staff Poet

Words in My Head

they surround me,
whispering my name.
but everywhere i turn,
they run & hide.

it’s a game i’ll never win.

-the words in my head

I Saw You There

Tonight I saw you.

I saw you in the trees,

as they swayed to the wind like the last song you danced to.

I saw you in the stars,

giggling at every twinkle they gave off.

I saw you jumping through streetlights,

playing tag with the dark.

I saw you in the moon,

shining brighter than any night I’d ever seen before.

but more than anything,

tonight I saw you in my heart.

you have grown to be a part of me I could never replace.

whether you stay there or not,

there will always be a place in my heart for you.

I saw you there.
