A Review of “Gino and Joe’s Pizzeria”

A Review of Gino and Joes Pizzeria

Kascey Relfe, Staff Writer

When first walking into the pizzeria, the scent of the fresh tomato sauce and bubbling cheese cooking in a classic Dutch oven will take your breath away.

Gino and Joe’s, commonly known as GJP’s, is a family-friendly joint. The workers seem to love their jobs as much as the customers crave to eat their masterpieces. One worker being a Weedsport graduate, Kierstan Davis. While working, in what seems like, a classic Italian pizzeria, who wouldn’t love to work there?

As you walk in there is a long counter filled with a couple workers, and after being happily greeted, customers may choose from numerous options that may be considered as never ending. Some options to choose from would be gourmet burgers, thick Sicilian or thin Neapolitan crusted pizzas, specialty gourmet pizza, Italian Paninis, a large assortment of pasta dishes, and specialty subs.

While the prices may make the food look expensive, the quantity of food served is properly priced.

My family has bought pizza from GJP’s three different times; each time being better than the last. First, we had ordered a regular cheese pizza. After taking a glance at the pizza there was nothing that stood out to me except the size. A medium pizza for $18.99 has the diameter of fourteen inches. This may not seem like a lot, but after opening the box it will surprise you.

There was not a proper ratio of tomato sauce to cheese- too much sauce for our liking. However, we enjoyed our pizza enough to go back and try some of their specialties.

A couple months later, we decided to order a large Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza for $20.99, having a sixteen inch diameter. The seasoning on the chicken added a burst of flavor pairing nicely with the smoky, crispy bacon. Having an extravagant flavor combination set on top of a creamy ranch sauce added relief to the taste buds from the constant burst of intense flavor. The specialty pizza encouraged us to try a new kind of pizza: Chicken Alfredo Pizza.

As a fan of Alfredo sauce, this may have been the most flavorful Alfredo sauce that I have ever had. The chicken had the same seasoning as the previous pizza, but the sauce took the flavor to a brand new level. Creamy, with a little heat behind it, underneath the gooey cheese was extraordinary paired with their chicken. One slice of this pizza changed my expectations of Chicken Alfredo altogether.

Families may order in or take out from 10am-10pm seven days a week.
