A True Look At Anxiety

A True Look At Anxiety

Angela Hackett, Staff Writer

Anxiety isn’t something to be taken lightly, it’s a true disability that can haunt you for the rest of your life. Many people think anxiety is fear, but everyone who has anxiety knows that’s not true. Anxiety isn’t fear; it’s in your mind worse than fear.

Fear is when you go to a really high building, look down, and you’re not scared anymore. Anxiety is no matter how many times you go and look down, you will always be scared.

Anxiety comes in many forms for many things. For example, some people get sick to their stomach until they tell someone what they did wrong. They get a warm feeling in their head, that goes down to your shoulders, then to you neck, then the arms, the back, and the legs, until your whole body feels like you’re having a mini heat stroke, and anxiety attacks. Those are some of my experiences.

Anxiety never goes away. It may feel like it’s gone, but it’s still there. Before you know it, you’re having a panic attack.

In my many years of having anxiety, I found out that the “fear” always changes.

Mine started with germs. I hated germs, but I quickly overcame that. Then it was dying. I’m sure everyone has this “fear,” but like I previously said, anxiety is worse than a fear. So a person with anxiety has it ten times worse than the average person.  I never got over that “fear” of death, but I have it under control. The “fear” I am currently battling with is my past. Also, if I do something bad I have to tell another person. It’s a blessing and a curse.

What I’m trying to say is that anxiety never goes away. Once you lose or push away a “fear,” a new one comes to the surface. You may not be able to get rid of anxiety, but you can subdue it. All you have to do is be aware of the symptoms below, and if you do have any of these symptoms talk to a doctor, so you can get the help you truly need.
