Throughout the years, certain kinds of media have taken new and upcoming adults and beginning teenagers by storm. Completely consumed by all the possibilities and outlets, endless works and pieces anyone can consume. Every now and then, we get some pieces of media that join everyone together. Something everyone can be excited about. Around 2019, the famously known Cartoon Network show The Amazing World of Gumball, or for short, TAWOG. This show raised the many lives of Gen Z, and most could not wait for something new since its ending.
The time has come for a new season, which was teased and is soon to be released on May 19. This new season or show will be called The Wonderful Weird World of Gumball, or TWWWOG. Soon to be on Hulu. This is exciting information because it has been almost seven years since we last saw Gumball or Darwin.
In the teasers, we see that Gumball and Darwin have been oversleeping, covered in dust and dirt, their voices are cracked and a little deeper, not depicting the children like the characters they once were. It’s canon in the show that Gumball and Darwin don’t age, but this shows a different look and a different feel because what’s canon always seems to be changing. Gumball asks, “How late are we?” in regards to them sleeping in for school, and Darwin responds with, “About seven years.” This obviously is a reference to how long it’s been in real life.
Fans have noticed the animation has barely changed in style, but is smoother, and even includes some new effects to create a more advanced look. The show has been through big changes, like an art style change in season two. In this new season, it has been reported to have up to 40 episodes in total and will premiere later this year.
Another piece of media has been long-awaited, teased for months on end, and has been pushed back in release more than once. GTA VI or Grand Theft Auto VI. The first-ever teaser was on December 4, 2023. This was the original date, but it was actually “leaked” the day before. Whether it was intentional or not, it got hold of lots of fans and people everywhere. This trailer said that the game would be released this year, 2025. But here we are, still no game.
The newest and confirmed trailer was two weeks ago on May 6, 2025. Much longer than the first and reveals characters we will control, meet, and a sense of genuine story. The graphics are considered more realistic by most and in my personal opinion doesn’t even feel like GTA anymore compared to GTA San Andres. The new date is now fully confirmed to be May 26, 2026, hopefully not another push back. It’s been almost 12 years since GTA V.
Both of these pieces of media may seem distant in content but the genuine audience is practically the same, many people have grown up watching TAWOG in the morning and playing games like GTA till late in the day. And obviously not everyone had the exact same experience, privilege, or childhood, but enough did where it created a sense of community and a piece of media that everyone can come together to appreciate and relate to.
