The Truth About Heartbreak Syndrome

The Truth About Heartbreak Syndrome

Angela Hacket

With the day of love coming up, Valentines’ Day, many people feel alone or their heart is heavy. Their heart feels broken. To many people’s surprise, broken heart syndrome is actually a real thing. It’s a feeling when your heart feels as if it’s tearing apart, sudden chest pain or it feels as if it’s being squished.

Broken heart syndrome, can caused by stress, sadness, anger, and most of all: heart breaks. Your heart contains what is called heartstrings, which are also known as heart tendons. The heart strings can sometimes break after deep, emotional trauma. Because the heartstrings are broken, it can lead to the pumping of the blood to stop immediately. Many misdiagnose heart break syndrome for a heart attack, as they both consist of excessive chest pain. Although heartbreak syndrome seems quite dangerous, there is no real reason to worry, as it is treatable.
