Wejko’s Worldview: Gorsuch is the Right Pick for SCOTUS
February 14, 2017
The day is January 31, 2017 it’s 8:03 and you are on your couch watching history being made, President Donald Trump is about to announce what could be the most important decision he’s made so far. Neil Gorsuch, a man who is undeniably genius, has been given the nomination to take on the mantle of Supreme Court Justice that Antonin Scalia once held. Now you might be a Republican or a Democrat, but it doesn’t matter; if you have any common sense you’ll see this pick as a perfect fit.
Let’s first get into the man whose shoes he will have to fill, Antonin Scalia. There are many ways to describe Antonin Scalia; academic, genius, authority figure. He was, and I’ll use this word many time in this article, undeniable. When you have a man so intelligent and wise, how do you replace him when he eventually goes to rest. Well, you find a man who’s almost an exact replica of him beliefs and education-wise. Neil Gorsuch has one of the most extensive and exceptional educations and history you will ever hear off. He attended Columbia University and graduated with honors, he then moved on to a more extravagant college than Columbia, Harvard University. Finally after finishing a degree at Harvard, with honors, he finally went to Oxford and, you guessed it, graduated with honors. He has quickly risen up through the ranks to be Head Justice of the 10th circuit court, an extraordinary position putting him in charge of four states.
There are many reasons why this is a great pick: first off he is intelligent, which the previous paragraph will show. Secondly, he is an all around extraordinary person, he has a career that has skyrocketed since he started in his field. Finally, he is an undeniably sound choice for the vacant seat in the Supreme Court, he was one of the highest ranking court officials in the U.S. for years. So, whether or not you like Trump, just look up Neil Gorsuch, and you’ll see that he is a smart, talented, and, extraordinary pick for Supreme Court. He truly is an echo of Scalia.
