A Waltz Through Time

Time is a wonderful thing. A wonderful thing indeed.Few can see it’s true beauty; even fewer have the time to stop and watch. Then there is the one who is completely unchallenged by time. The passing of time no longer hinders him. His name is Alexin Vain and he is truly one with time. A true time jumper in his nature, Alexin was born in a small, nameless town in the year of 1839. Not that the time mattered. It was simply an origin point. The place where a legend no one knew began.

Now enough with my babbling before time runs out. We have so little of it ourselves. This story is neither truth nor fiction, but a strange combination of both, a story that had been changed by time as much as the rest of the physical world. Alexin was a time traveller from birth, bouncing only a few moments back or forward in time as a baby-scaring the wits out of his parents–but never straying farther than five minutes before or after the present. As he got older, as he learned, he got more and more curious, straying farther and farther forwards and backwards in time. The farther he strayed, the more things he influenced.

There was one time he returned to the most over all the other. This time was the year of 1912 upon a boat named Titanic. The reason for his return to such a time was a certain girl, that no matter how many times he tried to hurry, to save her, he was always too late. A young girl whose name was lost in the list of dead, whose “body” was never found and was never listed as a survivor. She was a girl who just disappeared from time altogether.

This girl…though the name will mean nothing to you, was Rosa Lister. A little girl who grew up in the timelessness that Alexin posed. Yet he remained ageless. Soon Rosa had grown older than him. He tried to stop her aging, to halt hers as he has his. All his attempts were futile though Rosa aged on. He knew that if he couldn’t stop her aging, he would lose her as he had lost everyone. He’d lose her to the clammy hands of death as he had his mother, his father, his brothers, his friends. He refused to believe it was impossible to save her, refused to let himself believe he’d lose her. So on he continued in his search to save her, jumping for one time to another until he landed in Germany in 1940.

It was in this time that he met a girl by the name of Cassandra Eternity, who would guide him to a man by the name of Garrett Wesley. Wesley was a man who was known to work miracles and after accessing the problem from start to finish he came up with something that would stop Rosa’s aging and give her the ability to follow Alexin through his time travels. He kept it a secret allowing only Rosa to know the answer. For the information to such a transformation would cause damage in the hands of the wrong person.

When Rosa turned 20, the transformation was put into place. Alexin wasn’t in that time, having jumped back to the titanic once more. Not knowing of the plan to transform Rosa, he had made a heartbreaking decision. He found Rosa as a girl and changed history. He saved little Rosa, depositing her on a lifeboat and banishing her from his future forever. Rosa was gone from his life when he returned to Germany and with a heavy heart and tear filled eyes, the time traveller made one last jump, a physical jump from the cliff in Normandy in the year of 1944. That was endpoint of the time traveller unknown as Alexin Vain.
