Weedsport is a school full of students who all have loads of different talents and interests. One of Weedsport’s seniors, Ava Keller, has taken up an interest in photography. Ava’s photography which she thought would be a small after-school activity has turned into an actual business. With this hobby, Ava has started her own business called “AGK Photography” and takes pictures for the school. 

“I’ve been into photography since a really young age and I had over fourteen thousand photos  in my camera roll, so I finally bought my first camera.” For most kids, the things that interested them wouldn’t interest them now, but Ava sees this as an opportunity for a good, steady side job in the future. 

Similar to any new piece of technology, navigating how to use a camera can be the most difficult part. Luckily for Ava, she was able to learn off of Youtube videos, but even then things still were not easy. “It’s definitely different from a regular phone camera because you have to learn iso, f-point, and the shutter speed. They all correlate with one another so you have to mess with it to make sure the lighting and camera are good.” 

Another part of having good pictures besides the lighting is the equipment. Ava has spent a lot of money on the equipment she uses to make sure her photos are perfect, and she has good quality equipment to learn on. “My camera itself that came with a lens was four hundred, I bought another lens for another four hundred, a light box set for two hundred and then my tripod, which was kind of cheap, was only forty bucks.” 

Ava wants to go to college for something completely unrelated to photography, but as of right now she has her own business. Ava has created her own website that can be found in the bio of her photography pages Instagram @agkphotography1_. Ava is also currently working on making business cards as well.
