Senior Katie Partlow has done many interesting things throughout her high school career. She is very driven and her accomplishment reflect this, such as her involvement in the fire department and the New Visions program which she is passionate about.

“New Visions is hands down my favorite part of high school,” Katie said. “It’s a program that takes place at the hospital and in addition to going to school and traditional work we get hands on experience by shadowing doctors and helping nurses. It’s taught me to work for what I want and appreciate what I have.”

Katie also has some great memories from her time in the high school building as well, one of these being the first game of softball she ever played.
“One of my favorite memories is when I played my first game of softball after never playing at all. It was awesome because the whole team was supportive and really cool about it even though I was pretty terrible.”

Outside of academics, Katie works at Movieplex in Auburn.
When asked about her job at the theater she said, “I work a lot and I absolutely love it. I even started training for a manager position a couple weeks ago. A typical shift for me is setting everything up and making popcorn if I’m opening and cleaning everything up if I close. I do everything from running the concession stand and selling tickets, to cleaning theaters.”

Katie also really loves the volunteer work she does for the fire department.
“It’s amazing. The guys are really cool and always willing to teach which makes you appreciate them so much more.”

After a great run at the high school, Katie has some valuable advice for students.
“Don’t procrastinate the things that are important because you’ll definitely regret it in the future. Everything you do now, from homework to who you spend time with, will affect your future in some way. Get your work done and work hard or you will end up regretting it.”

Katie will be attending Canisius College in the fall to further her dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. Wherever life takes her after this, there is no doubt she will be successful and make the best of whatever is thrown her way.
